This is a personal side project run by one person, not a company. It has no
analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. The few outside services that handle
your data are named below, and nothing is sold. What follows is the whole of it.
What I keep
- Your email. It's how you sign in — there's no password. You either
continue with Google, or type a one-time code emailed to that address.
- If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, your
name and the address of your profile photo, and nothing else (no contacts, mail, files
or calendar). The email signs you in, the name pre-fills the first-name box, and the
photo isn't used. They're kept with your sign-in record, never shared or used for
advertising, and deleted with your account.
- Your first name, if you gave one, so the board can say hello.
- Where you want things shipped, and roughly where you're from.
Shipping country decides what the board shows you; the other is optional and you can
leave it blank.
- An age band (like "35–44"), not your date of birth.
- Your sizes and whether you shop menswear, womenswear or both — this
is what "in my size" runs on.
- The brands you asked for, and which of my existing ones you wanted.
- Anything you typed in the free-text boxes.
- Your Style Match picks, if you take it: which of two photos you
preferred, and the style profile worked out from them. It's used only to suggest brands
to you, and it's deleted with your account (or any time you press "Start over").
- What you Save or mark "Not for me" in your "For you" picks, and brands
you follow from there. They tune the same style profile, only for your own board, and
they're deleted with your account.
- Which products you open. When you open a product's details, or
press "View at" to go to the brand's site, the board notes that product (once a day
at most). Opens count for much less than a Save, fade over about a month, and tune
your "For you" picks. I keep this history to improve the recommendations, and it's
deleted with your account. You can switch it off any time in Settings ›
Personalisation: nothing new is recorded after that, and past opens stop shaping
your picks. If you've turned on sale alerts, a "View at" tap is also recorded as a
tracked click (see below), even with Personalisation off.
- Sale alerts, if you turn them on. They're off until you switch them
on in Settings › Alerts. I keep which alert went to you, when, which items were in it,
and whether it was delivered.
- Tracked clicks, with alerts on. A tap on a link in an alert email or
on "View at" on the board stores the time, the product, the brand, a random click id and
a yes/no for whether it looked like an automatic link scanner rather than you. The database
never stores your IP address or your browser. Vercel, which serves the site, sees those
for any request, as every web host does. It lets me see which alerts lead to a purchase.
- Your "Did you buy it?" answer. A few days after a tracked click the
board may ask whether you bought the item. I store your answer against that click. It
may be matched against purchase reports from an affiliate network.
- Alert emails load product photos from the brand's own website, like
the board does, so the brand's server sees a request from your mail app. Your name isn't
part of that request.
- How often each brand gets opened, as one anonymous count per brand per
day ("Farm Rio: 7 today"). It isn't linked to you or your account in any way; it's how
I decide which brands to keep adding.
What I don't
No payment details — the beta is free and there's nothing to pay for. No passwords,
because there aren't any. No address beyond the country. No cookies for tracking, no
analytics, no third-party scripts beyond the web font. I don't log your IP or browser, and
nothing is recorded about what you do on other websites.
Where it lives, and who sees it
In a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database hosted in London, and on Vercel, which serves the
pages. I'm the only person with access to the data itself. It isn't sold. The only thing it
trains is this board's own recommendations.
A few services handle it on my behalf:
- Supabase stores the database and runs sign-in.
- Google confirms who you are, only if you choose "Continue with
Google". It learns that you signed in here, as with any "Sign in with Google" button.
- Vercel serves the site and runs its code.
- Anthropic tags products from brand photos and descriptions. Nothing
about you is sent.
- Resend sends the sign-in codes, and the alert emails if you've turned
alerts on. It sees your email address and the email itself.
- An affiliate network, if and when I use one, receives the random click
id and sees your visit like any website you open. It doesn't get your name or email.
The board reads product prices from brands' own websites and shows
you what's discounted. It doesn't tell any of those brands who you are.
Some links earn us a small commission if you buy. It never changes what you see.
Alerts and tracked links run on your explicit opt-in. Switch it off any time in
Settings › Alerts: you get plain links and no emails, and nothing new is recorded.
How long
For as long as you're in the beta. If you stop using it, or the beta ends, I delete your
account and your answers. Alert records, tracked clicks and your "Did you buy it?" answers are
kept for the trial and deleted with your account. If you switch alerts off, past records stay
until then.
Getting rid of it
Ask me — a message is enough, and there's no form to fill in. Deleting your account
removes your profile, your sizes, your brand list, your survey answers, your alert records
and your tracked clicks together. It's a
single action on my side and it's permanent. You can also ask for a copy of what I hold.
Changes
If I start storing something new, I'll tell you before I do, not afterwards.
Questions about any of this: just ask me directly.
